Cross Curriculum Method
Cross-Curricular Coaching Methodology
Individuals demonstrate interdisciplinary understanding when they integrate knowledge and modes of thinking from two or more disciplines (or well established fields of study) in order to create products, raise questions, solve problems, and offer explanations of the world around them in ways that would not have been possible through single disciplinary means.
This assessment tool is designed to reveal aspects of the craft of integrative work that underlie the kind of work that we often admire among our students, and help us see where our students might need additional support.
Interdisciplinary work takes advantage of insights, findings, methods, techniques, languages, and modes of thinking in two or more disciplines or areas of expertise to accomplish its goals. This dimension examines the degree to which students have taken advantage of the disciplinary learning opportunities offered in the course to advance the purpose of their work.
At their best, integrative activities highlight the most unique aspects of each subject and fuse them, so that they reveal relationships among subjects that would not have been understood had each subject been taught alone.
Multiple Disciplinary Combinations Can Invite Deeper And Richer Understandings. When Disciplines Are Combined, New Understandings Are Possible.
The Current Learning Deficit And Imperfection
With much of the education system set up in its individual wells or silos, going from shallow, individual pools of knowledge to deep waters can be a drastic difference. This is especially true when many students are left with lower learning expectations as they undergo standardized test preparation courses, with subjects only becoming more segregated with each passing year.
it’s never been clearer that when it comes to how we teach, some elements are lacking and cross-curricular teaching is needed.
With isolated learning and instruction very much the modern method of education, students are left without the cross-curriculum learning skills they need to do more and succeed.
So, what can we do to transform teaching from an isolated bubble into a communal force?
Connecting even two subjects together with a similar lesson focus can deepen the learning for students who often ask

It is moving away from a prescribed curriculum to a collaborative one in which teachers work together to design a multi-layered lesson that incorporates more than one discipline.
The Cross-Curricular lesson can span an entire semester or a whole year, culminating in a final project or performance. Since it makes connections among disciplines, this approach fosters critical thinking and collaboration from students, as well.
Students are expected to apply their learning, which in turn leads to excitement about further understanding and discoveries. They should be able to reflect on concepts and ideas and interact with each other as they dig deeper into the focus of the lessons.
Interdisciplinary work is often geared toward describing or explaining phenomena or events that are multidimensional, solving complex problems, proposing new interpretations, creating products.
To facilitate this reintroduction, teachers and educators must provide both a rich, full and overall relevant font of knowledge, information and skill-building.
This knowledge must then be applied to students in order to help them develop their own thirst for knowledge, rather than simply falling into the pattern of teaching without encouraging deeper understanding.
Interconnectedness Of Curriculum Areas And The Ways In Which Content Standards Weave Together
Deeper learning is the key. By consolidating and combining the efforts of teachers and their specialties, offering students a broader range of test prep knowledge has never been more practical.
Deep learning offers more to students by not reducing their knowledge down to individual silos. It allows children to learn as a whole, rather than learning in a fragmented format that overall won’t benefit them in the long term. With the support of excellent teachers and insightful education staff, providing profound learning experiences to your students should be a top priority.
Deep learning is more than just an educational technique. It can help set children up for a better educational start in life, encouraging them to use their brains in more agile and compelling ways. Not only can deep learning help children understand their subjects, but it can also help ignite their passion for learning in ways that isolated subjects cannot. For any educator, cross-curricular teaching should be your ultimate goal to provide your students with the learning skills and knowledge they need to do more, go further and succeed.
Using English language is the skill of applying literacy concepts, processes and understanding appropriately in different contexts. Ideally, teachers will use relevant real-life situations that require critical thinking.
A Cross-Curricular Competency Is An Interrelated Set Of Attitudes, Skills And Knowledge That Are Drawn Upon And Applied To A Particular Context For Successful Learning And Living.

- It can also improve students’ recognition of “thinking skills” tasks. And cross-curricular learning can improve students’ ability to pose multiple responses to problem stimuli

- -Builds upon prior knowledge/experiences: helps students build on their diverse prior knowledge/experiences
- Unifies student learning: enables students to acquire a unified view of the curriculum to broaden the context of their learning beyond single subjects
Cross-Curricular learning prepares the way for students to learn and work together, which is more reflective of real life. Very few people do their jobs without collaborating with co-workers, so this type of instruction is a training ground for future interactions.
Moving away from merely memorizing facts, Cross Curricular learning encourages students to make their own connections and draw their own conclusions based on the material.
Cross-Curricular teaching certainly has the potential to change the way students learn and process information in a dramatic way.
